Lawn Installation and Lawn Irrigation
Several seasons of drought have done a number on lawns in New Hampshire. If you have ever attempted a lawn installation yourself, you know how much work it is. When scorching heat destroys your efforts to have a beautiful lawn it can be very discouraging. But take heart! Giant Landscaping is the full-service neighborhood lawn installation and irrigation company for the Manchester New Hampshire area! And we're here to help. We can give you that dream lawn that you are working so hard to get.
The Giant difference. Our approach to a healthy lawn has some specific strategies that make them successful.
A good base. We top dress a new lawn with 3 inches of screened loam. A good layer of topsoil is important to prevent a lawn from drying out too quickly, especially on a lot that has been filled with sand.
Broadcast seeding. At Giant Landscaping, we can install your new lawn in sod, hydroseed or broadcast spreading. We prefer broadcast, because it allows us to customize the seed blend better. Also, broadcast seed makes immediate seed-to-soil contact and grows quickly in the loam, instead of growing in the blue paper mulch found with hydroseeding. The key to establishing a broadcast seeded lawn is loose soil and frequent small waterings. Fall lawn installations are best for broadcast seeded lawns.
Follow-up care. As your full-service neighborhood lawn care company, we encourage our new lawn installation customers to follow through with at least a year of a lawn care fertilization program. In its first year, a new lawn in New Hampshire will battle weeds. All loam contains dormant weed seeds. Spring lawns are especially susceptible to a weed crop. This is also true for managing crabgrass in the spring season following a fall lawn installation. Accurate timing with lawn controls is best left in the hands of a professional lawn care service, which we can also help you with.
Lawn Irrigation
Lawn Sprinker Systems. This is so important we have a division at our company dedicated to lawn irrigation! Daily watering in measured amounts is critical for healthy grass and reducing weeds. And, it actually saves water! Consider this: once a lawn has dried out, it requires three times the amount of water it would normally take to re-wet it. (If you've ever seen soil in the summertime behave like talcum powder, you know what I'm talking about.) Hose end sprinklers waste a lot of water because they don't water evenly, and can be left on too long in some areas because someone forgot to move it. An automatic sprinkler system for your lawn is essential to establishing and maintaining a beautiful lawn with no effort! We include a rain sensor with every irrigation system we install. With a rain sensor, the system will shut off when the lawn has received adequate watering from the rain.
Having Giant Landscaping's irrigation division monitor and maintain your new irrigation system can also help in successfully establishing your new lawn. As grass seed grows it has different moisture requirements. We can adjust your lawn sprinklers as needed throughout the season for optimal grass growth. Our annual programs include spring irrigation start up and blowing out your system in the fall. This gives us an additional opportunity to check on the progress of your new lawn.
Hiring Giant Landscaping to install and care for your new lawn will give you the best lawn in your neighborhood, so you can spend your time working hard on something else. Or not!
